Finding Employers That Make Work-Life Balance a Priority
If work-life balance is important to you, the easiest way to increase your odds for achieving it is to work for an employer who also makes this a priority. So if you are job-seeking, you should try and pinpoint your search so as to target employers who offer the balance you need.
How do you do find these companies? This article shares some tips. Your first step is to clarify exactly how work-life balance looks to you—as in, what sort of policies or benefits would help you achieve it. Do you need childcare assistance? Flexible schedules? Once you have a list of what you need, you can better match up potential employers who fit the bill.
Next, use sites like Glassdoor that help you get the inside scoop on companies, from current or former employees. In a similar vein, you can work your social media contacts to try and find people who work (or have worked) for particular companies, or send a general query seeking leads on companies that offer the type of things you are looking for.
Another tip: when searching on job sites, use “work-life” or “family-friendly” as part of your search parameters, and your results will include companies that have those terms in their postings.
