How to Start a New Career from Scratch
A new year means new beginnings. And for those who are feeling dissatisfied or unfulfilled by their job or career, it’s often a good time to think about new work-related beginnings.
Rather than just jumping to another gig that’s the same job you have now, but with different scenery, maybe you need to consider whether it’s time to go in a totally different direction. Lots of people do it—the days when someone stayed in the same exact career (or perhaps the same exact job) for decades are pretty much over. These days, career hopping is common—and can be a great way for you discover a profession you really enjoy.
It takes some planning and thought, of course. You don't want to randomly jump into another career just because it looks fun. Think about your interests and skills, and what would make you feel fulfilled professionally. Then figure out how you can use the skills you already have in that profession. You will need to show potential employees that you can transition into this new field.
