Tech Tip: FingerPrint
Despite all the talk about paperless offices, there are still times when you need to print an actual hard copy of a document or image (perhaps many times, depending upon the type of work you do and your office setup). This usually isn’t too big of a problem if you are sitting at your office desk, printing something from your desktop to a work printer.
But what if you are using a portable device, such as your iPad or cell phone? If you have a printer that supports AirPrint, you can use that. However, many printers still do not work with this service.
That’s where FingerPrint can be a big help. This utility allows you to print wirelessly to virtually any printer from your iOS device. You can also send files to other devices or programs you access via the “Print to” command, such as OneNote and PDF file creators.
In addition, FingerPrint allows you to send files to your Dropbox folder. Plus, you can transfer files to your PC—meaning, you can send notes, files and other important information to your favorite desktop applications. There is no limit to the number of printers, devices or folders you can send files to via FingerPrint.
The service costs $19.95 per install.
