Tech Tip: Microsoft Surface
If you are looking for a tablet and also want to try out Windows 8, the Windows Surface tablets may offer you the perfect combination. The Surface runs on Microsoft’s new operation system, and also comes with Office 2013.
One of the most popular things about the Surface is its cool look. It has a sleek design, and a kickstand that lets you elevate it at a convenient angle. It also has a memory card slot and a USB port.
The attachable covers—you have the choice of a Type Cover or the Touch Cover—attach to the tablet magnetically and also add a cool touch. The covers are technically an optional accessory, but many people consider them a must-have in order to get the best functionality and user experience from the Surface.
A downside, as this article mentions, is that the Surface uses an interface called Metro that some people find tricky to use, at least at first. Also, many reviews have criticized the skimpy offerings in the Windows app store.
The Surface is available in 32GB and 64GB versions, with prices starting at $499.
